親から受けついだ、池のあるひろい庭。
庭の樹木をできるかぎり切らずに、ご主人が高校生の頃から住んでいた家を建てかえた。１階は水回り、居間と客間、離れのような書斎、・・・濡れ縁をはさんで庭とつながる。吹き抜けを介しつながる2階は必要最小限の個室の空間で、さらに趣味の空間へとつづく。ほの暗い居間からのぞむ庭は、寺の庭のような落ち着きがある。
古民家の梁から作った大きなテーブルでそれぞれの形の椅子に座り夫婦は晩酌、鉄道少年は勉強と、思い思いに過ごしている。
